Our Family Classes are split into two types: Beginner level and Intermediate/Advanced.

For your first lesson, please wear comfortable athletic clothing—avoid skirts, as they aren’t suitable for practicing kicks. 😳 Don’t forget to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated!

Absolutely! We encourage parents to watch their children during martial arts lessons. Involvement is great for both parents and kids. Even better—consider joining some of our Family classes! Your children will love having that shared experience, which helps build a strong family bond.
If you prefer some “me-time,” feel free to drop them off and enjoy a coffee. They’ll greet you with huge smiles when you return, excited from all the fun they had!
Parents are not required to stay during classes. However, we strongly encourage involvement, as it strengthens the connection between parent and child. Watching a child grow in confidence and skill while progressing through belt ranks fosters a strong family bond. At Ascent Martial Arts, building strong family units is important to us and our Wilsonville community.
In our Family classes, we focus on teaching respect and the appropriate use of self-defense techniques. Not at all. You will find that martial arts classes are the PERFECT sport for teens who are not good at sport. Teen martial arts classes really are an individual after school activity, that they do in a group.
The journey from white belt to black belt is different for each student. But what is the same…. They improve co-ordination, balance, motor skills, focus and discipline. Plus, they makes lots of great friends!
